Postcolonial and Decolonial Perspectives in International Relations
26th April: 6-7pm - Theme: The illusion of an International Order
Abstract
The international system's anarchical nature is one of IR's fundamental tenets. However, this canonical feature is strongly challenged from a postcolonial and decolonial perspective, as they argue that the international system is a highly hierarchical structure. How has this hierarchical international order been put into place? What are its main characteristics today? How does this structure affect different countries in the system? These are some of the questions this workshop will address.
