Configure Microsoft Teams for TINYpulse

If your organization uses Microsoft Teams, you do not need us to tell you how powerful this hub is for collaboration, file sharing, online meetings, and more. Since it is probably one of your main go-to applications at the office, we had to jump on the bandwagon and bring TINYpulse to Microsoft Teams!

**Please note that third-party apps are not supported for those on Teams GCC or GCC-High, so you will not be able to add TINYpulse as an app in your Teams instance if you are on one of these plans.**

    1. Install the TINYpulse app for a channel
    2. Stream the Cheers Feed and Wins Board to a channel
  2. Install the TINYpulse app for yourself

Features

The TINYpulse Teams integration allows your users to:

  • Respond to surveys directly in Teams
  • Stream Suggestions, Initiatives, and Wins to Teams
  • Stream the Cheers Feed to Teams

Integrate TINYpulse with a Teams channel

For the TINYpulse integration, you must be a:

  • TINYpulse Engage Admin / Super Admin
  • Teams Global Admin

Instructions

We recommend that you create a dedicated Team or separate channels for TINYpulse streaming. If you create a new Team, be sure to add all TINYpulse users to this Team, otherwise, they will not see the installed app.

There are two ways to integrate the TINYpulse app and two ways to integrate TINYpulse streaming:

  1. Install the TINYpulse app
    • For your organization
    • For yourself
  2. Stream the Cheers and Wins Feeds
    • With the Teams integration in TINYpulse
    • With the TINYpulse Connector in Teams

1. Install the TINYpulse app

1. Go to the Microsoft Teams app store and search for the TINYpulse app.

2. Choose the TINYpulse option, click on the arrow next to the Add button, and select Add to a Team.

3. Select the Team you want to integrate TINYpulse with from the dropdown list's options. This is the only Team that will have the TINYpulse app added, so make sure that all of your TINYpulse users are in this Team.

4. Click the Set up button.

5. Open TINYpulse and go to Settings -> Integrations and find and click on Teams in the list.

6. In the Microsoft Teams configuration page, click Connect.

7. Sign in with your Microsoft account if prompted.

  • When you return back to the configuration page in TINYpulse, the button should now be gray and read Disconnect.

8. Add the Team you want to integrate with in the Team selection dropdown. Click Add.

All users in the Team you have integrated will get pinged by the TINYpulse-bot the next time a survey is open.

 Users can also:

  • Send Cheers: type in send cheers
  • Submit Suggestions: type in send suggestion
  • Make sure you have responded to surveys: type in my surveys
  • Request a refresher of the commands: type in help

2. Stream Cheers and Wins feed

There are two ways to stream Cheers and Wins: with the Teams integration in TINYpulse or the TINYpulse Connector in Teams.

Teams integration in TINYpulse (Global Admin access required)

*You will need to have Global Admin access in Teams to set up this integration.*

1. Create new channels in Teams for the Cheers and Wins Feeds.

2. (If you have already connected Teams in TINYpulse, skip to step 5.) Open TINYpulse and go to Settings -> Integrations and find and click on Teams in the list.

3. In the Microsoft Teams configuration page, click Connect.

4. Sign in with your Microsoft account if prompted.

  • When you return back to the configuration page in TINYpulse, the button should now be gray and read Disconnect.

5. To add your streaming, choose Cheers Feed in the first drop-down list, select the associated Teams channel in the second drop-down list, and click Add. Follow the same process for the Wins Feed.

  • Tip: We recommend that you create a dedicated channel for Cheers feed instead of having them share the same channel with Wins Feed, otherwise, Wins may get drowned out by Cheers.

Connector (NO Global Admin required)

This has fewer complications and it is easier to set up. You just need to have:

  • Access to TINYpulse
  • The ability to modify a channel in Teams

1. In Teams, view the Team you would like to add TINYpulse streaming to and click on the three dots to the right of the channel.

2. Select Connectors.

3. Search for TINYpulse

4. Click on the Configure button.

5. Click Sign In and log in with your TINYpulse credentials or use the Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft buttons to log in.

6. Select the features you would like to add to your channel (Suggestions, Initiatives, Wins, or Cheers), click Save.

  • Tip: We recommend that you create a dedicated channel for Cheers feed instead of having them share the same channel with Wins Feed, otherwise, Wins may get drowned out by Cheers.

To ensure that your Suggestion and Cheers streaming will work in Teams, you will want to check that streaming is turned on in TINYpulse in Settings -> Platform -> Employee Portal.

You can manage the TINYpulse Connector at any time by going to the Connectors page in the channel and selecting the Configured option. Scroll until you see the TINYpulse Connector and click on the Configured button to get to the Manage button. Here you can reconfigure what features stream in your channel and what TINYpulse accounts the Suggestions, Initiatives, Wins, and/or Cheers are streaming from.

Install the TINYpulse app for yourself

Any Teams user is able to add the TINYpulse app to their account (as long as they have a TINYpulse account). But you will not be able to stream Cheers and Wins into Teams unless your TINYpulse admin follows the above steps to do a full Teams integration.

1. Go to the Microsoft Teams app store and search for the TINYpulse app.

2. Click on the TINYpulse app and add the bot to your own account with the Add button

3. That is it! You will now receive notifications from the TINYpulse-bot in your Chat the next time a survey is open so that you can respond to it.

You can also:

  • Send Cheers: type in send cheers
  • Submit Suggestions: type in send suggestion
  • Make sure you have responded to surveys: type in my surveys
  • Request a refresher of the commands: type in help
