DescriptionSwift water skills taught by river gurus. With a canyoning focus. Caters for a large group which will probably be split into smaller groups on the day (perhaps catering to experience level). Both JV and Keith are experienced kayakers, canyoners and swift water rescue experts. Ideally match this workshop up with an afternoon ropes workshop.Swift water skills taught by river gurus. Ideally match this workshop up with a morning swift water workshop. How to efficiently rig and move down a canyon with a series of rappels. St Ronan's Well is a very short, repeatable canyoning trip. Medium volume, very enclosed and scenic. Short rappels. Grant is a former canyon company owner/guide and is one of the most experienced rescue/rigging instructors in the country. How to efficiently rig and move down a canyon with a series of rappels. Will cover how to plan for a trip and make use of topos. Will workshop rigging etc as you move down the canyon. Hope is another great beginners/intermediate trip with easy access and reasonably short time in the canyon. Low flow, predominantly vertical in nature.Maarten is a canyon guide from Belgium.Combo of some dry land tuition (around Coldwater Hut) then two laps of Chandler: (one of tuition, and another to put everything into practice). Suitable for people who know how to confidently rig releaseable/retreivable abseils, who want to become more efficient team members and trip leaders. Lower Chandler is probably the best bang for your buck trip in the region. Quite short but of high quality. Dan is an NZOIA 2 guide and author of the Canyoning in NZ guidebook.Ellis in the morning. Hope in the afternoon (lower section only if you run out of time). Ellis is a short, pretty canyon with some nice slides and beautiful waterfalls. Hope is another great beginners/intermediate trip with easy access and reasonably short time in the canyon. Low flow, predominantly vertical in nature. Paul is an experienced canyoner and caver from Auckland.Lower Chandler in the morning, Lower Barefoot in the afternoon if time allows. Lower Chandler is probably the best bang for your buck trip in the region. Quite short but of high quality: continuous, beautiful and enclosed. Some good jumps. Lower Barefoot is a medium flow canyon with mostly beautiful steep, clean abseils. James is an experienced recreational canyoner from Chch.Lower Barefoot in the morning, Lower Chandler in the afternoon if time allows. Lower Barefoot is a medium flow canyon with mostly beautiful steep, clean abseils. Lower Chandler is probably the best bang for your buck trip in the region. Quite short but of high quality: continuous, beautiful and enclosed. Some good jumps. James is an experienced recreational canyoner from Nelson and owner of the local climbing gym.Medium flow canyon with mostly beautiful steep, clean abseils. Mark is a canyon guide with Abel Tasman Canyons.Arguably the best intermediate-level canyoning trip in the Top of the South, although will have to bypass the slot section at the end due to slip :( Recommend having done Lower Chandler or other a3 canyons previously. Lee is an experienced canyon guide (NZOIA Canyon 2) with Abel Tasman Canyons.
