Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO) Data Collection in Routine Care: An International Survey of Oncology Practitioners

Patient-reported outcomes (PRO) are defined as measurements of any aspect of a patient’s health status that come directly from the patient without the interpretation of another.

It is an important component in the assessment of health outcomes. Although there is little disputing the importance and relevance of PRO measures as a research tool to capture patients’ perspectives in study endpoints, there are still major challenges to incorporating PRO in routine clinical practice to inform patient-clinician decision-making.

The aim of this survey is to explore:
1) practitioners’ experiences and perceptions on the use of PRO in routine clinical care at the patient level, and
2) the value of PRO as a performance or quality of care indicator at the system level.

This study is a collaborative effort between researchers from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the USA.

Your participation will help us to identify barriers to and facilitators for implementing PRO in routine cancer care and to explore new research opportunities with the increased use of PRO.
