Announcement of permanent closure for BuSSy’s activities

Dear friends and Supporters of BuSSy,
We are writing this today to share with you the decision to permanently stop the project activities. The decision is the result of a number of factors, most important of which is our choice to prioritize the well-being and safety of the individuals working on the project. Over the past years, we have witnessed many achievements and upheavals, and it is time to take a proper break—not only to rest, but also to reflect. “All our girls must be circumcised”“I’m scared. I don’t want to go to another doctor and have to open my legs again”“See? I told you the girl would turn out horny!” Female gential mutilation (FGM) is a serious violation that is often not spoken of, even though it has a lifelong physical and psychological impact on those who have been subjected to it. BuSSy is launching a campaign titled “A Part of Me,” which will revolve around the theme of FGM. The campaign will run during the months of November and October, as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence. We invite you to share your story with us and tell us how FGM has affected your relationship with your body, your sex life, your reproductive health, your mental health, etc.

My Body

My Body

We’re constantly subjected to comments about our bodies, and our appearances are often compared to what society deems beautiful. This impacts people’s relationships with their bodies. It makes it difficult to accept and claim ownership over one’s body. The comments we get can be about our weight, hair texture, skin color, body shape, etc.During the months of August and September, the BuSSy project will publish the stories and experiences of women and men under the overarching theme of “My Body.”
