This book has you pretty much hooked from the first word. It’s action packed which can be expected being a military based storyline and it doesn’t disappoint.
Mary is a broken, secretive lost soul, but she is also strong, resilient and a fighter and she has also survived a situation that would be described as a living hell. But instead of crawling into a shell she instead goes to Afghanistan as an journalist.
But she finds the man who had saved her once is here and that she has been placed into his care, and between them things get hotter than the desert.
Ken is a soldier and and special forces. An Alpha Dominate.
Ken and Mary met in a previous situation but was a bit surprised to find her in Afghanistan and that she is placed under his care, where they become red hot lovers, but on the day they go around on patrol in the war zone, they stop in a dangerous town and while there she disobeys a direct order and Ken has no choice but to send her away.
Mary and Ken continue their love affair when he gets home from the war but Mary’s secretive past comes to back to haunt them both when they least expect it, but with help from Ken’s brother and other people Mary begins to heal, to be the better person she always could be.
This book would have to be one of Loki’s best stories..the twists and turns would be enough to give you whiplash.
If I could give it more than five stars I would..highly recommended reading.

SCAR (Loki Renard's Standalone Dark Contemporary Romances) Kindle Edition
I rescued her from her hell and I set her free, never expecting to see her again.
Fate brought her back to me in remote Afghanistan.
We fell in love.
It should have been the beginning of a white picket romance. But it was the beginning of something much darker, something that will make me rescue her again and again, because there are monsters in every corner of this woman's world. She has a past which is stealing our present, and her lies are beginning to add up.
I will do whatever it takes to make her tell me the truth. I will break her down. I will use every bit of my military training and experience to force her to submit to me.
Because sometimes, you have to rescue the damsel from herself.

An INTENSE, character-driven, “enemies- to-lovers” romantic MUST-READ.

Wow, just WOW! EVERYTHING I have ever read which was written by Loki Renard has been impressive. So, I leaped at the opportunity to purchase, read, and review a copy of her newest novel, “SCAR.” Her prose is eloquent, detailed, and easy to read. Her characters are realistic, flawed, and yet are the strongest and most amazing survivors! Additionally, her plots are complex and captivating! In “SCAR,” this reader was fascinated by the evolution of Mary’s character. The character classified herself as “broken”, “all messed up,” and a “danger to others.” As the story was told, the author gave tidbits of additional information through conversation and/or the action of the story, which allowed readers to “discover” throughout the progression of the plot just how much of that self-description was accurate, and how much was a figment of Mary’s damaged thinking. She fascinated me, but Ken’s devotion to her fascinated me even more. It was not until one of the last chapters that I experienced that “Aha!” moment and everything made sense. In today’s world where the media is suspect, the government is suspect, and corporations are suspect, “SCAR” is a formative ROMANCE of our time, with a MUST-READ “enemies- to-lovers” trope that will draw readers’ attention and will not release it until the last page is read. It is that good! With a HIGHLY rated 5+STAR review, “SCAR” is the MUST-BUY for that back to school moment which frees time for those summer-weary mothers looking for an escape from the sudden quiet of the home. Purchase your copy of “SCAR” today! Happy reading! 😉

Amazing Story

This is a fantastic story about Mary, Ken and Tom. If you are looking for sex, spankings and BDSM you will find them here but with a completely new twist and not in over abundance. Mary is a very dangerous woman. Wherever she goes danger follows. Ken rescues her from an experimental hospital in Chile then never expects to see her again. To his horror she turns up in Afghanistan as a reporter. She is to shadow Ken but wherever Mary goes danger follows. She never tells the whole truth. She lives her life in compartments. Finally, unable to contain her, Ken sends her home. Little does Mary knows it is to his brother Tom. From here the character development of each character gets very interesting. You must read the book to find out whether this ends happily or not. I highly recommend it.

I am a real fangirl of Loki. There has not been one book that I haven't loved and this is no different.
Ken is a soldier, whether he is working privately or with the military. He has orders to infiltrate and save Mary. Several months later they cross paths again but what Ken doesn't know is that Mary has some very dark, buried secrets. After he has her sent home from the war zone, his brother Tom takes her back to his and Kens' house. While Ken is her 'sir', Tom takes on the role of her 'daddy'. The sex\spanking scenes were hot. 🔥🔥
This is a must read for Loki fans.

Something about Mary

4.5 Stars on this one. I didn’t like Mary’s time in the experimental hospital so 1/2 a star off for that. Typical Loki greatness. Mary and Ken find their HEA and Mary gets Tom as her Daddy. I reD this book in two sittings, interrupted only by the all of my job. Great read.

Mary has many Scars, some flesh but others hidden deep
Reviewed in the United States on 10 August 2018Verified Purchase
I enjoyed reading this complicated story of the many scars of Mary's, she has
obvious scars of the flesh but the more troublesome ones are hidden deep in
her mind and soul. Mary went through torture that would totally destroy a
person but she is no weakling, she is a warrior! Ken gets into the top secret
facility that is conducting the horrific experiments on Mary, he rescues her then
sends her off in a helicopter according to his orders. Mary is someone that Ken
won't forget easily. A year later, he gets paired off with Mary, the journalist in
Afghanistan where he is conducting a covert mission while she writes about the
experiences of the land, war and people. Mary is messed up mentally and emotionally
so Ken sends her off to his brother Tom, a former military doctor who Ken believes
will be able to get through to Mary and help her. Mary needs to learn to trust, but
she has many secrets that will take time to reveal and help her heal. The story keeps
you guessing and hoping for a good outcome for Mary but she is so complicated and
keeps so much to herself. Mary needs to be broken and put back together into a
functioning woman with love, trust and care. I loved Ken's brother Tom who used
love and tenderness to help Mary, while Ken used love and passion when he could
be with Mary. I am happy to say, this does have a HEA. I was worried that all the
angst, suffering and darkness would take over, but Mary is stronger than that.
