Between the Lines by Renee Harless is the story of Quinn and Trevor.
Quinn and her family moved to Texas when she was a child. Quinn became best friends with Izzy and then her brother Trevor. They stayed that way until Trevor became more popular with the girls and then he seem to keep his distance from her. Later Quinn moved to LA and became a movie star but now about 6 years alter she is back in Texas on vacation staying with Izzy.
Quinn is finding that her crush on Trevor is still there and he has grown more handsome than before.
Trevor is finding Quinn more beautiful than before and his feelings for growing too.
But they are different people from different worlds...can this be more?
Great second chance at love/ friendship to love story.

Quinn Miller, 24, has returned to her Texas hometown to get a break from L.A., and to visit with her childhood best friend, Izzy, when she discovers she still has a crush on Izzy’s twin brother, Trevor Shaw.

I side-eyed Quinn’s celebrity status many times and not just because I prefer plots about average people. I might have bought that she was simply an actress, a profession that’s a dime a dozen in LA and would have explained her relocating after high school; but, it was the fact that she became an instant star upon arrival in LA, appearing on dozens of magazine covers and walking the red carpet, that was unrealistic and inconsistent. She travels without a bodyguard; thinks she can’t get into a small but busy local club; and when she does, she gets drunk, taken out by a cop in uniform, pukes, and passes out. Yet this never makes social media or the tabloids???

The paparazzi later appears and then seems to disappear. Again, it’s really inconsistent. And made Quinn difficult to connect with. I think there was potential to make Quinn a fuller character, especially if the issue with her parents would have been more fully developed, but her parents and that side plot felt flat.

As for Trevor, well I could have done without the “there is never a shortage of women to finish the job for me” comment following his assertion that he wasn’t hasn’t taken care of it himself in years. I find a man who can take care of it himself instead of whoring around a lot more attractive. But then later, Trevor monologues that he didn’t actually practice his playboy reputation; he just never squelched the rumors. Again, inconsistency.

I was also bothered by this line:

“…she doesn’t need to be treated like the women I’m normally with. She needs to be treated with the care she deserves.”

So any other woman doesn’t deserve to be treated with care and respect?

I get the message this statement was going for—the heroine is special; but there’s no need to degrade other women simply to prop the heroine.

I also eye-rolled a few instances of romance world trite vernacular.

Oh and he calls her “sweetheart” 37 times. (Trust me, it felt like he said it every time he opened his mouth.)

On the plus side, there are plenty of detailed steamy encounters and the reader gets to experience their romance. Trevor was actually pretty sweet when he was taking her out. The story is overall safe without any real OW/OM drama. That’s always a plus!

But there’s something about their interactions, including Trevor’s sister's opinion on it all, that came across rather high schoolish.

“‘Oh my God, how could we forget about Izzy? She’s going to flip out…she can not know about this. It would kill her.’”

Told via Quinn and Trevor’s alternating first person point of view, this is a best friend’s sibling “forbidden” romance. The whole “forbidden” angle felt forced/contrived. I couldn’t help but feel that if someone was really your best friend, you should be comfortable confiding in them, whether it is her brother or not when you’re all TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OLD, not twelve. And I’d also hope that said sibling would handle the situation more supportively. The way it played out, I thought Quinn and Izzy’s friendship seemed somewhat superficial, though I don’t think that was the intent. A mature conversation between everyone involved would have gone a long way.

Last but not least, there’s a strange continuity error when Quinn can’t wash her vibrator because “we have no water without the power on.” Umm, when my power goes out I still have water. Those lines are totally separate. Still, I’m sure she could have improvised.

All in all, it was just an okay read, and if you can get past the above issues which distracted me, you might enjoy it.

This past year Renee Harless has become one of those authors I stalk. I have enjoyed everything I read from her so far and keep an eye out for what's next. In particular, I am a huge fan of her Coming To Carson series. Knowing how much I love those books, I was looking forward to reading Between The Lines which is unrelated and a standalone of its own. That said while I enjoyed this book, there was just a bit of something missing for me in the connection between Trevor and Quinn. I wasn't 100% feeling their love. Lust, yes.

Trevor and Quinn met at age thirteen when her family moved to Texas. Quinn became best friends with Trevor's sister. Then eventually all three became close. That was until Trevor discovered girls. After high school, Quinn leaves town to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. Six years later she returns to Texas to visit with Izzy. While she is there, Quinn hopes she won't run into Trevor. He may have been one of her best friends, but is was also her unrequited love.

Trevor and Quinn together was hot and heavy. Unfortunately they did a lot of sneaking around, afraid that Izzy would be hurt if she found out. I wasn't a big fan of Izzy. I felt the whole hiding their feelings issue was unnecessary AND her fault. Despite those few bits I didn't like, as a whole, I enjoyed this book. And as usual I am looking forwarding to see what comes next from Renee Harless.

I loved the last chapter leading to Trevor and Quinn's happily ever after. In the end it all worked out and I was happy and satisfied.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

The importance of family, friendship and forgiveness is the foundation of “Between The Lines”, the outstanding new book by Renee Harless. Sometimes in life you need to take a chance on love, even though it may not be the right thing to do. This is the dilemma facing lifelong friends Quinn, Trevor and Izzy.

Quinn hasn’t been home in a long time and she desperately needs a break from her busy acting career. She is looking forward to staying with her best friend Izzy, but she is apprehensive about seeing her twin brother, Trevor. She had a huge crush on him when they were teenagers and she always wondered if he felt the same way about her. She had crossed paths with many good looking guys in Los Angeles, but none of them came close to being as wonderful as Trevor. No matter what happens during her stay in Texas, Trevor will be in her heart forever.

Trevor would do anything for his twin sister, Izzy, even if it meant putting her friendship with Quinn before his own happiness. He is glad Quinn has come home for a visit because his sister really misses her best friend. As for him, he is very busy working extra shifts and attempting to complete the endless amount of paperwork that comes with the job. He realizes that he will see Quinn while she is home, and he would prefer to keep his distance, but he is afraid that will be impossible. Quinn is a beautiful and caring person who brightens up every room with her happiness and love. Trevor may want and need her, but she will never be his.

Where will Quinn be when she sees Trevor for the first time?

Will Trevor be able to remain only friends with Quinn for the sake of his sister’s happiness?

“Between The Lines” is a passionate, reflective and beautiful love story that everyone needs to read. It shows us that friends will always be there for you and that love is fighting to be together and never letting go.

Great book!

When Quinn followed her dreams and moved to LA, she left behind her best friend and her brother. She had always crushed on Trevor growing up, but never acted on her feelings. She didn’t want to upset her best friend...

Returning home 10 years later to visit, she realises all her feelings haven’t gone away. In fact she’s more attracted to him than ever before...

Can she have chance with the man of her dreams?
Will her best friend understand?

Really enjoyed this story

Between the LInes was my first read by Renee Harless. Contemporary romance is not a genre I choose frequently. However, the difference in pace, the storyline and the authors telling of a sweet but passionate romance and love, was most definitely a welcomed change.

Between the Lines has honestly encouraged me to branch out on my reading choices. The story is about love, sweet and innocent attractions and childhood promises that threatens to ruin lifelong friendships. When this trio of friends is forced to deal with an emotionally charged reunion after years of denying their attraction.

Quinn's crush on Trevor, a childhood friend who also happens to be her dearest friend, Izzy’s twin brother could never go anywhere. She and Izzy made a pact years ago to never cross the line and act on these feelings. Quinn leaves town to follow her acting dreams. Although the absence and distance make it easy to deal with the denial, it does nothing to take away from her feelings for Trevor.

They have done great to suppress their attraction for the sake of honoring friendship and a childhood promises. This however, is put to the test when these friends are brought together when Quinn returns home on vacation. No matter how hard they try, there is just no more fighting the inevitable.

Their playful banter, flirty wit and their intense chemistry make for some really great reading. Friendships and love are put to the test and passions sizzle as these two realize that there is just no stopping it.

I must merely add though, there are a few moments in this book where I wanted to take sweet Izzy and shake some damn sense into the woman. I am all for honoring friendships but really!!!! There are few things more rewarding than seeing your brother and a best friend eventually finding true love and their chance at a happily ever after.

The author had a way of luring me into the pages of the book. I soon found myself getting enthralled in the pages, getting extremely frustrated with Izzy and impatient to see how this would all end.

Thanks for the opportunity to have read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book is easy to read, the story flows and the authors writing style keeps you engrossed. I definitely recommend Between the Lines.

"When Trevor asked me what I needed, where I wanted to go, I could only think of one place where I felt secure - and that was with him."

Oh, I loved this story! Friends to lovers. Second Chances. Hot cop. What more could you want? I only wish the cops in my town looked like Trevor!! #NoSuchLuck

Quinn Miller, Izzy Shaw and Izzy's twin brother Trevor, have been friends since they were kids. The Three Muskateers, they did everything together. But, Quinn's had a crush on Trevor since she was 13 years old. You'd think six years apart would be enough to get over it. It's not. Taking a break from her celebrity life in LA, Quinn's returning to her home town to visit Izzy, and hopefully put this silly school-girl crush to rest. Not. Even. Close. Trevor is hotter than ever but he's off-limits. She and Izzy made a pact that she and Trevor would never happen. She won't betray that trust. But, her heart has other plans that are making things... complicated. Is there a way to have it all and not ruin everything in the process?

Trevor Shaw has been friends with Quinn since forever. Until, one day, things shifted for him. He had no choice but to keep his distance. Acting on what he was feeling would ruin the friendship between Quinn and Izzy, and that was just to important to his sister. So he did the only thing he could - he gave her the cold shoulder. That was 6 years ago and he still loves her. Now, she's back and more beautiful than ever. There's no way he's going to be able to keep his feelings at bay. He walked away from her once, he won't be able to do it again.

This was such a sweet story. I'll be honest - I thought Izzy was being a big B and was totally selfish. I wanted to slap her several times for trying to keep Quinn and Trevor apart and making it all about her. But, she was acting out of fear, so I'll give her a pass. This time. She pulls this crap again and I'll be all over her - just saying. #TeamQuivor

Between the Lines by Renee Harless

I haven’t read anything by Renee Harless before, but I’m certainly intrigued by her way of writing.

At the age of 13 years old, Quinn Miller met Trevor and since then she’s fell in love with him. The only problem, she can’t act on her attraction with him because she would never cross the promise she made with her best friend Lzzy, who just happens to be Trevor’s twin sister. As years past and High School coming to an end, Quinn leaves Texas to grasp her dream to become an actress. As years pass and with hard work and determination, Quinn has climbed the ladder of success, but even a celebrity needs downtime and with a month opening she’s able to visit her best friend….and her crush.

Is the promise she made years ago still intact or will Quinn be able to pursue a relationship with her crush?

OMG! I loved Between the Lines . I’m a sucker for hopeless romantics and this one certainly hit my romantic strings. I don’t even want to say anything other that it’s a must read. I mean, I read this no stop. Which cost me precious hours away from doing my homework, but let me tell you, I have no regrets. None! Amazing writing, flow and pace!

I was asked to read an Arc copy of Between the lines by Renee Harless.

Quinn Miller, made a promise to her best friend Izzy , she would never cross the line and become something more with Izzys twin brother Trevor. Quinn has been in love with Trevor since she was 13 years old .After High School, Quinn up and left Texas to move to fast moving LA in pursuit of her dream to become an actress. it's been a few years, and lots of movie roles, Quinn now is a celebrity. Being able to take a month off of work, Quinn decides she was going to go back to Texas and spend time with her best friend Izzy. little did she know, her crush for the boy next door, was going to come flashing back ... Does Trevor feel the same as Quinn did all along? What would Izzy say now, after Quinn made that promise so long ago? Buy the book, I'm telling you ... it's so worth it

Amazing Book

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Quinn has had a crush on her best friends , Izzy brother, since she was 13. It is her twin. She has forbid them to ever be anything more than just friends.

Trevor, who knows how he feels about things, about them?
Now she is back in town.

She left right after high school to go after her dreams out to LA. A well known Actress, now.
on vacation for a month.

Quinn and Trevor, when they are around each other, CHEMISTRY, THEY have and are so, so right together.
The sex is Just exquisite.

The characters are great. I loved Trevor and Quinn of course. Trevor and Izzy's parents. Vic.
Izzy well sometimes I thought she seemed a little spoiled, lol, in my opinion, but it makes the book special.

See for yourself.
There are twists and turns along the way.

loved It!

Way to go, Renee.

Absolutely loved this book!!

Quinn and Trevor were amazing characters.
Quinn was not your typical Hollywood starlet. She had been burned once and after that never repeated the mistake again.

Trevor is hot as a grown up man, he has choices. He had a crush on Quinn when they were kids but because of his sister removed himself from the equation.
Quinn always wondered what happened and why Trevor withdrew and seemed aloof.

Quinn is coming home for a month to take a break and spend some time with her best friend, Trevor's twin sister.

What will happen?
Will they remain friends?
Will Quinn and Trevor act on the attraction that has always been there?
If they do, will the sister/bf find out?
Will these two have a HEA?

Get this amazing book and find out for yourself. It's totally worth it. I love Renee's work.

This book was so sweet. The hidden love that blossomed from teen years and lasted states and years apart. It's always a risk to hide a relationship, especially from your best friend and his twin but in the end it all worked out. Love does conquer all sometimes, this book gives a perfect example.

Quinn grew up as a nerd only to leave and become a world class actress while bad boy Trevor turns into a cop. Seemingly two different people from the people the knee as friends but at heart nothing has changed. If anything it made them realize they could never stop loving one another. With more than one kink in their pursue of a no strings attached relationship makes them realize they will never get enough.

A cute small town romance that packs some pretty heavy heat!! I love that the sparks between Trevor and Quinn are so palpable you can feel them through the pages! Their flirty banter and cute moments had me smiling like a school girl!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect because most of Renee’s books are from a series of standalone’s and this is a first non Carson book that I have read and I loved every second of it! Whether you have heard of her other books or not definitely take your chances on this book. it’s packed with cute little quips from all sides, small town fun and most importantly steam that will melt your socks off!!

Quinn Miller had a crush on Trevor since she was 13 years old. Quinn's best friend Izzy was Trevors twin and she made Quinn promise her that she would NEVER be anything more then friends with Trevor. Quinn left right after high school to go after her dream of acting in LA. She made it and is now a Well known actress. She goes onto vacation for one month back to Texas to visit Izzy while she reads her next script. How will Trevor and Quinn be when she is back in town?

Awww!! I absolutely loved the romance of Trevor and Quinn! These two have tried their hardest to keep their feelings to themselves since they were teenagers. But, the right time, and the right place, things can’t be held back any longer. They are explosive. It’s hard to keep their “arrangement” from Trevor’s twin sister, Quinn’s best friend. She doesn’t want them together and when she finds out, things will get messy.
Grab a drink and a snack before starting this book. Once you start you are not going to want to stop until the very last word! Enjoy it. I know I did!! One of the best “best friends sister” stories I’ve read in a long time

This was a slow friends to lovers romance, but not too slow like some books can be. It has the perfect amount of sweet & sexy. The chemistry between Trevor & Quinn was well written, just not as hot/sizzling that is my favorite. It was a beautifully well written romance, with no over the top insta-love, smuttiness, just sweet with a dash or two of sexiness. I was so aggravated with Izzy at times. She is supposed to be Quinn's bestie, but she didn't act like it when she needed her. Great read!!

Told in dual POV.

Bros before hos? Is that a legit reason to not go for the guy of your dreams? What about if it involves you best friend and her brother? Yeah that’s what drew me into this story. This story doesn’t this concept very well. You will fully invest in these characters, and the story will keep you hooked. I love this story, and I strongly suggest it as a must read for the year.

One thing I can say about this story is that is rips open some raw emotions for everyone. Quinn has always been in love with Trevor. Trevor hiding his feelings because of his sister. It gets really raw through out and it pulls you in feeling their pain. When Quinn comes home and is thrust right back into her childhood essentially, lots happen as she tries to navigate her emotions plus finding herself. Trevor is a passionate and patient man. I really enjoyed his character. How he had developed through the years.
With some crazy twists that happen plus Izzy having an utter melt down, I found this book to feel fairly realistic that this would actually play out in front of you. I really enjoyed the development of the characters and how things play out. Izzy did drive me bonkers but I could see where she came from at the same time. But you can really tell that Quinn and Trevor are made for each other.
