I’m always running, hiding to avoid the reality that has become my life. Hunter didn’t deserve the destruction I left in my wake—I just hope it’s repairable.

Because I need him.

I need him to love me like he used to, to make me whole again. To remind me that my reality doesn’t have to be like this.

Most importantly…I need him to save me.

Kristie Leigh is a feisty redheaded Canadian/American who fell in love with romance novels when her friend Phil bought her a Kindle that hasn’t left her side since.

She recently moved to a small rural town in Alabama with her high school sweetheart and kids. She feels blessed to have made the move and loves the quiet beauty that now surrounds her.

Kristie’s favorite books to read are anything taboo and super sick and twisted. Although she isn’t sure she’ll ever be able to write the pitch-blackness like her favorite authors do.

She’s enjoying her writing journey, and although she’s not sure where it’ll take her, no matter what, she’s having a blast and loving the adventure it’s taking her on.

This is the conclusion of Jules and Hunter's reconnection. There was so much push and pull, grief, and insecurity that needed to be worked out that I was really excited to get to this book. Kristie Leigh did not fail me with more answers about why Jules was a runner, how invested Hunter was in the relationship and how much their entire community assisted in getting this childhood sweetheart relationship back on track. The sexiness was upped in this section of the story and I was here for it. We also got more Calum and I loved it, super cute. The duet as a whole was a sweet, beautiful, heartbreaking, swoony, and fun second chance love story.

This specific video review will be included in the August 2019 wrap-up.

I didn't like the first book in the duet and I really struggled to read this one. Somethings were better in the second part than in the first one,but not much was changed.

After how the first book ended,I expected a lot more drama and angst, and I wanted to see Hunter grow a pair. But neither of those things happened.

Jules didn't need Hunter to "love her like used to" and she didn't need to be saved by him either. The only thing Hunter does is love her(too much in my opinion).Jules had something to overcome, but mostly she needed to learn how to not be so selfish.
Hunter was to sweet. To caring and loving.I loved his relationship with Calum but when it comes to Jules I just couldn't understand him.Why chase after someone who clearly can't respond to your feelings.

And again, the use of words like "whore" and "bitch" was a bit too much in my opinion.

Overall,I think that this story could easily fit into one book.

This book, the 2nd in the series was much more enjoyable. Hunter was persistent but not pushy, suggestive but not cocky & he was never 100% sure what Jules was thinking. That young woman was a runner, avoided confrontation & her true feelings. I was still annoyed by her, but less so, until she finally came around & was willing to examine the feelings she blocked for so long.

Does everyone refer to their female friends as bitches & whores? Because I don't! And these names were used a lot! Oh well, different strokes i guess. I am shaking my head though.

We see more interactions between Jules' two year old son, Calum & Hunter & these moments are both heartwarming & adorable. The two enjoy making meals together, swimming & Calum also demands that Hunter is the one he wants to tuck him into bed at night, So sweet!

There is a happy ending here, but wow, such a long journey for this couple. Hunter has the patience of a saint & in my mind he & Calum saved this story.

There is a third book which will focus on Jules' best friend, but I think I'm going to pass on that one...at least for now.

This is a great conclusion to Kristie Leigh’s Like a Hurricane duet. Jules and Hunter were high school sweethearts who were separated by life circumstances but remained somewhat friendly. Hunter always knew she was the one, and Jules always knew no one she met compared to Hunter, but what will happen when circumstances change again.

Well written conclusion to this second chance romance duet. The characters are well layered and the plot develops at a nice pace. Good read.

Saved by Him.....YESSSSS! The conclusion to Wrecked by Her is everything!

Hunter & Jules had me reeling in Wrecked. I struggled with my feelings mostly for her. Okay, all for her lol. Hunter was always doing and saying the forget things.

After being left with Jules’ indecision on whether to stay or go, I was really freaking hoping she’d wisen up and open her eyes. Thank eff she did!!

Saved by Him will bring you on a journey of rediscovery and you will love every turn of the page.

This book definitely helps to complete their story after part one! You get answers and you get soo soo much love! I seriously LOVE Hunter even more!! He is the one to complete and fix her after everything in her life blows up. Jules fixes everything that she was holding back from and makes things right in her and Hunters life. This book ends perfectly in my opinion and make me so happy that I had the chance to read this duet!

This was a fabulous follow up to Wrecked by Her. I loved seeing how the relationship between Jules and Hunter grew back together and how she learned to let herself need him and open up about how she was feeling. I truly loved seeing the relationship and bond between Hunter and Calum grow as well, it was the sweetest. Hunter is the SWEETEST thing ever. I adore him. I was so happy that he got his happy ending.

This was a nice conclusion to book one that packed in the feels and more for these childhood sweethearts. I liked watching the characters come into their own in their new together which was quite the process to get there. Lots of hurts to overcome but at the end of the day a true second chance romance

Saved by Him concludes the Like a Hurricane Duet by Kristie Leigh. It was emotional, heart healing, and 4 swoon-worthy stars!

Hunter is an absolute saint, and to Jules – I’m still mad at ya, girl. I truly enjoyed this read, although a part of me did wish that Hunter had made Jules grovel a bit, because she totally deserved it.

Saved by Him is sweet and sexy, and has a happy ending guaranteed. The epilogue had me tear stained and swooning hard. Enjoy this second chance romance, and one click the Like a Hurricane duet today! xo

Wrecked By Her & Saved By Him (The Like A Hurricane Duet) by Kristie Leigh
Contemporary Romance Duet
The Like a Hurricane Duet (Wrecked by Her and Saved by Him) are the debut novel(s) for Kristie Leigh. The emotional duet, despite being a super-slow burn second chance romance, kept me up reading late into the night with a box of tissues at my side.

Jules and Hunter grew up together and became high school sweethearts who were very much in love. Eight years ago she left town to go to college without saying goodbye to Hunter and she never returned.
“I couldn’t believe she was really gone. My Jules was gone.”

When her mother got sick she was called back home. She brought with her the most adorable 2-year-old son whose father was not in the picture. Callum stole the book a bit for me. Kristie wrote the most adorable little boy! Hunter pined away for Jules for the eight years she was gone, so when she got back Hunter was doing anything to make sure she stays, even if it meant just being a friend.
“No matter how hard I tried, being around her but not with her shredded me. I couldn’t be normal when everything about me was broken.”

Hunter, sigh….he is so sweet, but I sometimes wanted to smack him upside the head and call him a wuss. He kept being the perfect friend while desperate for more.
“I’m right here with you, and I’m not leaving. Lean on me, and I promise to never let you fall.” He kissed my forehead and let it linger.

But by 84% of the first book they are still just friends!
“I’m with you, too, okay? Anything you need. Friendships are a two-way street.”
His face twisted a little. “Friendship, yeah,” (84%)

Once they got together though….holy hell, they made up for lost time! I was not expecting so much sex after the majority of the first book was sex-free!
"I know it's really soon, but I feel like we have been together forever." I said that with conviction because I was so certain.
“I feel the same way. I guess it’s because our hearts have always belonged with each other."

Likes:

•I loved the emotional storyline.
•Callum was the most adorable kid ever.
•I loved the neighbor so much!
•Very well written, you can tell she really researched her craft before publishing.
•Great banter.
•Hunter could not have been a more perfect guy (a bit too good!).
•I liked the girl friendships.
•The covers are GORGEOUS.

Dislikes:

•This duet needed a brutal content editor. ⅓ of it could have been cut, making it one amazing book.
•It moved way too slow for me. At 48% of the first book my notes say “It’s taking way too long for them to get together.” later I say “84%!!! Come on already!”
•Jules was so selfish and we never really had a good enough reason why she stayed away from friends and family for 8 years. Luckily she won me over.
•Some of it, especially the sex scenes seemed a little like the author has read too many for reference. It had all the right words, but it was missing a natural, from-the-heart feeling.
•The Florida town didn’t feel like any Florida town I’ve been to, and I have lived here since the 80s. Florida is such a transient state that we never really get that “small town” feel. (I know this is nit-picky but it stood out to me.)

The Down & Dirty:
The Like a Hurricane Duet shows the fantastic potential of Kristie Leigh as an author. I loved the story and the writing, but she needed a content editor that wasn’t afraid to hurt her feelings to cut at least a third of this duet and make it a single book. Wrecked by Her was an emotional sloooooow burn with the couple still “friends” at 84%. I love a single mom story, and I love a second-chance romance, so this duet checked all my boxes. Her son Callum was adorable, Hunter was patient and wonderful, and I loved all her friends. Despite my thinking it was too long, there was not one moment where I wanted to stop reading. If this was Kristie Leigh’s debut, I can’t wait to see what she produces with a little more experience under her belt!

*Full Disclosure: Kristie is a friend of mine, but I purchased these books myself.

Saved by Him is book two in the Like A Hurricane Duet series by Kristie Leigh. Book two is definitely an improvement over book one. Book one ends in a cliff hanger. However, I still found Julianne’s character extremely frustrating. Hunter continues to be the amazing Book Boyfriend. But Jules holds back, and I could never really understand why she builds walls in her relationship with Hunter. When the whole world is telling her how much he loves her, why doesn’t she believe that fact? I don’t think I ever found an adequate answer. There are quite a few steamy sex scenes, although they are well written. I have to give this one a 4 star. I was gifted a copy of this book.

I read the first book in this authors duet ( this will make it her second book released) and while I struggled with the first, I still enjoyed it. That being said, I struggled a lot more with this book then the first. Again, the blurb was misleading when it says that she needs him to love her like he use to (he has been nothing but loving and devoted even when she was pushing him back). She didn’t need saved. Yes she had somethings to overcome but to be honest that all seemed tame to me. There was one point where everything that she chose, it seemed like it was never even in the book. It’s so hard to explain with out spoilers.

I’m going to say that I applaud this author for writing a really cute duet. That’s why it was. Cute. It didn’t have the angst I was expecting after how the last book ended and that made me sad. It seemed like a pointless cliffhanger by the time I got started on this book.

It was just sweetness on top of sweetness. I feel like it could have been one book and not stretched out into 2, but again, the author wrote the book how she wanted to. That being said, I liked the banter, it was a lot more steamy then the first, I liked the secondary characters. I’m not really sure if I will read more by this author but will continue to applaud her for following her dreams and writing. I know this was a bunch of word vomit, but it’s the only way to review this book, being the second in the duet and not just give a bunch of spoilers. 3 stars #2OCCJD

Emotional. Love. Major hotness level. This is a story of Hunter, Jules, and Calum. You will fall in love from the first word (you should read Wrecked by Him before this book to know the back story) and it only gets better with each word you read!! Amazing, emotional romance by Kristie Leigh!!

This is a continuation of hunter and Jules that will blow you away. The way this author has made each other so in love truly was portrayed with every word she put on page. Their love story comes to life before your very eyes. I want a Hunter in my life.

Kristie Leigh is genius with her story and the setting. The descriptions and things that Jules has to endure, the scenes of utter love and joy between them and Calum was truly inspiring. She has created a world I definitely want to be part of. The way this story plays out will have you begging for more and wondering why it wasn’t like this all along.

Hunter and Jules - total couple goal for me. They have been through the good and the bad. They have had to endure so much apart and together. Fate sure has a funny way of playing its cards and this story proves that you can’t run from what was meant to be.

It is a beautiful love story of people fated to be together, but will love prevail? Or will the will to run away prevail?!? Read to find out!!

Finally...redemption. Hunter is a dream...Jules - well her nickname is Hurricane for a reason!

"Jules always was like a hurricane, leaving the wreckage of my heart in her wake."

"I swear my ovaries exploded. I just fell a little harder for him, knowing he was still a dork, too, but he was hot as f***." - that could have been my quote!

I have to admit that for over the first 1/3 of the book - I was not sure it was going to work for me. I just wasn't a fan of Jules and for most of this story - so did not think she deserved Hunter. But Hunter stayed true throughout and thank goodness Jules finally got her head out of...well you know where. And thank goodness for Mom - she really saved the story in more ways than one!

This is book 2 of this angsty duet. If I didn't feel for Hunter so much - I might not have been so wrapped up in the story. But the ending was a complete 5-star ending and all the little scenes brought tears to my eyes and finally brought me around to liking Jules - yes - it really did take that long.

This is a debut author and one that I plan on reading more of her books and hopefully liking the female characters more.

Hunter and Calum were such a joy to read and again - that ending was so sweet, touching, and heartwarming! Love, love, love!

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

‘Saved By Him’ is part two in the ‘Like A Hurricane’ series by Kristie Leigh, and the conclusion to Jules and Hunter’s story.

I’m a sucker for second chance romances, so this book captured my interest, and I managed to get through it in one sitting.

The romance between Hunter and Jules is sweet, and I found it unusual how much a guy had hung on waiting for his girl, but I adored Hunter for his perseverance. He goes all out to be there for Jules, when some guys would have given up, or wanted her to fail.

I adored Hunter’s relationship with Calum, and how much he goes out of his way to immerse himself in his life. He is certainly a good father figure, and It was super cute.

I found myself skimming pages at times to get to the main parts, I’m not sure why as the writing and tone were fine, but I think I found it predictable and at times a little unrealistic. Jules was a hard character for me to relate to, so I think I struggled with her reactions to situations and to fully be on board with her.

The book itself was an easy read with some real touching moments, and I loved how everyone was rooting for them as a couple.

I’d recommend this book to people looking for a sweet romance, someone who likes second change romances, and someone looking for a new author to try.

Still Didn't Click...

After reading the first installment in this series, I wasn't sure what to expect in the second. While our main character wasn't as annoying, I still didn't jive with her.

Jules is trying to let Hunter in, or however you want to put it, with her and her son Calum. She's been completely selfish for the past eight years and even still when she came back for her mother. This time around she finally has to put her big girl pants on and figure out if she's going to run again or stay.

Hunter is an absolute gem, however one of those guys you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole because some chick has him all twisted up inside. Because he's such a nice guy, Hunter has completely put the past behind him and trusts Jules again, taking Calum under his wing like his own.

Jules's selfishness rubbed me the wrong way in the first book and I kept that chip on my shoulder about her reading this second one. Sure she tried to be nicer to Hunter, but in my mind she was still doing it all for herself.

The book is well written with a nice epilogue to wrap things up. Some steam and no angst.

Saved by Him is the conclusion in the Like A Hurricane Duet, so YOU MUST READ Wrecked by Her FIRST! In the first book, Jules really irritated me to a crazy degree, so I wasn't sure how Kristie Leigh was going to redeem her, as she's a total flight risk. And since she's that way, she hurts the amazing, Hunter, on more than one occasion, which pissed me off. I'm totally happy to report that while Jules still had some issues, Ms. Leigh really showed out with her growth in this story. Hunter never stopped being a yummy sweetheart, so before I started this one, I really wanted him to find someone else to be honest, which is something I rarely ever say. I'm not saying there wasn't frustrating push & pull still, as these two had a lot to work out, because there was. I'm just saying that it felt like Jules was all in this time around. And the sexy times were even hotter, as they lit the sheets on fire. Plus a bonus was, the tiny human, Calum, truly stole the show for me, as he was a lot more of front man if you will. So how does it all turn out? You'll have to one click it to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was definitely an interesting read. I mean, who has a hook up right before they go to college, and makes a friends with benefits arrangement for when she's home on break and have it last all the way through 4 years of college and then moves back home and keeps the same arrangement for the next 4 years?

Oh yes, Taylor and Emerson do. I really can't believe that Emerson was okay with being Taylor's dirty little secret for so long and there were times that I really wanted to smack Taylor for not wanting to bring their relationship out in the open. I wish there was a little more angst, and maybe even an ultimatum to make her open her eyes and realize that she did not want to lose Emerson.

The writing was good I just wish that Taylor would have been more willing to bring their relationship out in the open and I wish that Emerson would have manned up a little more and told her it's no longer a secret or he's out.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Whew! I am so glad I got to devour this. This is the second book in the duet and I loved every word of it.

Jules drove me a bit nuts. I won't lie. But at the end of the day I loved this story. I loved when she finally saw what was right in front of her and I got the ending I wanted. I loved that in this book everyone grew so incredibly much.I mean I LOVED every word of the first book, but this one, this one sealed my love for these characters.

Hunter was, Hunter. He grew right along with Jules and leaves you completely in love with him. These guys had their struggles but at the end of the day they got the ending and the story that they deserved.

I can't wait to read more from this author. This certainly wont be my last read from them.

I loved this book as much as I loved the first book in the duet, in fact it carried off exactly where it ended in book one.

Jules and Hunter, this pair are just the sweetest couple ever!!! Talk about soul mates. Also it needs to be on the record that Hunter is one of the sweetest book boyfriends you will meet. This guy has a huge amount of patience, and within that a massive amount of hope and trust. Love him.
Jules is a strong independent single mum who sadly lost her own mother. She knows what she wants but is a little scared of how to go about getting it, luckily Hunter has enough trust for both of them.

This book had me crying again, seriously you are killing me Kristie!!

🖤 Second Chance
🖤 Small Town
🖤 Single Mum

I really enjoyed the setting of this book and could invision both homes and the lake, the just seemed beautiful. Loved the characters and storyline.

Really fun, sweet quick read with a few tears flung in for good value. Go grab this lovely duet, you will love it.

Saved by him is book two in a duet from Like a Hurricane. This story picks up right where book one left off and it is the chance for Jules to redeem herself to not only Hunter, but to us. Running is what Jules does best, but there may just be a little wrench in that plan to run. Have tissues on hand as you will be bleary eyed reaching this story!
Jules knows that she did wrong the first time around and now she needs Hunter more than ever. Does Hunter save her and show her she can be whole again or does he left her be after something is said and done? I’ll leave it at that as to not spoil anything. For being a debut duet from this author you would never know. It holds your interest and heart from beginning to end in both books. I look forward to more books from this author. Speaking of this…Em..Does this mean Taylor, her BF will be getting a book?

Saved by Him is book 2 in the Like a Hurricane duet and this was definitely my favourite of the two. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed reading book 1 but this one just seemed to pull me in more. Jules and Hunter both seemed to really grow in this book and be more open and honest with their feelings.

After the way book 1 finished we're left wondering if their really is a second chance in Jules and Hunter's future. Jules has a decision to make that could break them or make them even stronger as a couple. Hunter is determined he wont lose her again but can he break down her walls so they both get the happiness they deserve.

Overall a great debut story from Kristie Leigh and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Jules has devastated Hunter once again as she plans to run back to California instead of staying and dealing with her feelings. Jules is scared of all the emotions she is now having to face after being able to keep them locked safely away for so many years. Is Hunter’s love for her going to be enough?

Saved by Him picks up right where Wrecked by Her leaves off and continues Jules and Hunter’s story. I was already in love with Hunter from book one but the author made him even more appealing in book two. Saved by Him is the conclusion of an epic love story that sustains despite time and distance. Kristie Leigh gave us a great Duet as her debut and looking forward to whatever else she writes.

I read this book in less than 24 hours and still ended up in tears. This book definitely knows how to bring a girl to her knees.
Hunter is this overly sweet man who just wants to mend his heart. Jules is almost forced to stay by her mother, who, from the grave, is a meddler. Her mother tells her she has to stay for at least 6 months and give it a try. She leaves Jules loads of money, so Jules will be set since mama can't be there. Hunter has done everything he can, short of telling her his feelings, to keep her to stay. Nothing worked. Till they truly connected again.
Although, I wish Hunter could have been a tad bit more manly-er, I still loved the book. It has so much raw emotion. It was rather realistic too.

“Saved by Him is book 2 in the Like a Hurricane Duet. Kristie wrote an emotional, breathtaking and heart healing story. Chapter after chapter I fell more in love with the plot. Kristie you wrote a marvelous emotional romance.

Hunter, he was a fantastic character. His relationship which Jules was pure, sweet and unique. Jules was a far-reaching girl, she pushed him back again and again (she made me angry for that) but he waited for her. His determination, persistence and endurance made me fall in love with him.

I found myself wanting to finish the story but also refusing to let the pages end. The story is easy reading and well developed. Hunter and Jules love story is one you must experience. I recommend you this sweet romance.”

Oh this story gave me all the feels...I will be honest I got frustrated with Jules. How could she not see how much Hunter loves and adores her. He would move mountains to make sure she was taken care of, and yet she still wants to run away. And poor Hunter, all he’s ever wanted is Jules. He’s waited years to get her back, now he feels like she’s slipping away agin. I was so thankful to Jules mom, and the gift she left her. It was the start to her awakening so to speak! I’m a sucker for a HEA, and Kristie most definitely delivered one! Kristie, you’re on the path to greatness, and I hope one day there might even be a book 3!

Book 2 Fantastic! Couldn't put it down! Bring tissues there are moments it's needed. 5 Star!! Must read series!
Kristie great job with Jules and Hunter! This was truly an amazing story of meant to be. Distance makes the heart grow fonder? Or if you set it free and it comes back it's meant to be? These words best describe this story. Definitely a true love story of two hearts that were meant to be starting as kids.
Hunter knew that Jules was it for him but at 18 yrs old she left without a proper good bye for college. Jules didn't want to leave Hunter but she had to for a full ride scholarship to college even if it was clear across the country.
In this conclusion can Hunter change Jules mind to stay and not leave again? Will Jules break the walls around her heart and let Hunter back in? Easy to follow and get caught up to find out what happens. Humor, love and tears throughout this second chance love story. You'll feel what these great characters are expressing.
