Raging Inferno

Rate this book
Jimmy Casale

Seventeen years on the job, I still remember my first day like it was yesterday. I fixed my probie patch to my uniform, strapped on my gear and ran to catch the Staten Island Ferry, making my way to the burning towers. My boots pounded the pavement of lower Manhattan as the dire need to save lives pulsated through my veins.
It was a day I became a hero.
Throughout my career, I often thought about the man I saved that day. I wondered about his life. If he had eventually married and had a family of his own. I never expected to find the answers.
Meeting her was a twist of fate.
Lying to her was my choice.
But falling in love with her was beyond my control.

* Previously published as a novella in the Burn Me Anthology, Jimmy and Melissa’s story concludes in this full-length version of Raging Inferno. *

The events of 9-11 will be forever firmly embedded in my mind. The horrors of that day still haunt me and I both love and hate reading stories that revolve around its theme. However, Raging Inferno was one to love because on that day, like so many first responders, Jimmy Casale became a hero. While he may be a fictional character, he encapsulated everything I believed in on that day - bravery, determination, fighting in the face of utter hopelessness, and the unity of people in the middle of such devastation.

What else is there really to say? Janine Infante Bosco's writing was as brilliant as ever. This story that she wove left me spellbound from beginning to end. I was caught up in the drama of Jimmy's life and was hoping he would get a truly happy ending. I wasn't Melissa's biggest fan, especially with her lash out against the true hero of this story, but she was who Jimmy wanted so I was rooting for them.

This is a story of love lost, love found, and the beauty of second chances. Jimmy was a firefighter with a heart of gold, he was a wonderful father, an honorable and trustworthy and amazing man, and he was the picture of what is good in this world.

Love a hot fireman.

This is a story about love, loss and fate.
And a hot silverfox fireman. (Jimmy)
Jimmy has two teenage daughters and a fiesty ex wife.
He meets Melissa at his daughter’s school and things pick up from there. The journey is about getting over one love and starting over with another. A cute family involved romance, my only complaint it was not hotter. I wanted the sparks to combust. But still an enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

New Your City Firefighter, Jimmy Casale has spent the last seventeen years risking his life to save others. After a failed marriage, he finds himself face to face with a woman who has been burned by fate. Melissa Moscato was holding out for a hero to save her from her grief. A sudden twist of fate brings two unsuspecting stranger together and as a raging inferno burns between them, they fight to hold onto one another.

I loved this story. This is a story about fate and how it works in the most mysterious of ways. I have always been a believer of fate but I don't question how it comes to me. Jimmy, who is a firefighter for the NYFD is also divorced and has two daughters. To say his ex is awful is a understatement. However I will say that Janine Infante Bosco has written the life of a firefighter's wife perfectly. I know. I live it. And I could not have expressed what it is like to watch your husband put on his uniform, in my case my husband is also a police officer too, tell my daughter and I goodbye, walk out the door and leave she and I with out faith that God will allow him to walk back in that door twelve hours later. While his job is hard and he is the ultimate public servant, I feel like the spouse, mom, child, significant other of a first responder has to just accept the fact that they have to share their partner with the world and hope and pray the world appreciates everything he does for them as much as you do. I loved Jimmy and his dedication to his job and how his brothers are as important to him as his family is. When he is called to the school because his daughter is having trouble he meets Melissa who is a guidance councilor at the school. When they shake hands, the sparks fly and this is the beginning of the story of a man who has been burned once by marriage and a woman who has lost her whole entire world. Does she have the faith it takes to let Jimmy in or is she going to continue to live in the past. Plus Jimmy has a secret. One that could possibly shatter Melissa's heart and change both of their lives forever. Raging Inferno will suck you in from the first words and have you not moving from your spot until you are done. I know that is what happened for me.

Raging Inferno is one of love, loss, fate, destiny and risk. This is an absolutely beautiful story of two people who are the perfect example of six degrees of separation. A story that will break your heart and remind you to always tell the ones you care about how much you love them because it might just be the last words that are spoken. Jimmy and Melissa’s story will grip you from the start, it will hold your heart and soul captive and it will light you up like the 4th of July. The words of this story will wind themselves around you and burrow deep under your skin. This book made me cry, it tore me to pieces but it filled me with hope and comfort. An inspirational story that shows us that all is not lost and sometimes the biggest heartaches in life lead us to the path we were destined for. Raging Inferno will also make you smile, having you laughing like no other and will confirm what we all suspected, fireman do indeed like it hot and just a little dirty.

This story is centered around things that happened on 9/11. I'm one of those people whose heart hurts every year on the 9/11 anniversary and usually watch all of the shows about 9/11. This year there was one documentary about the survivors of both towers, the people they met on that day and how many of them still maintained relationships. In this story, Jimmy saves a man and they maintain contact periodically through the years. Seventeen years later fate throws Jimmy together with the man's fiance. I'm not going to give too many details here, but suffice it to say I loved the story, as well the references to the impact of 9/11 on everyday people's life. Bosco's writing, as usual, brings those emotions to the surface as she writes about love, hardships and faith. The hero will make you wish you had one just like him. I highly recommend this book.

Wow a touching romance. Fate brings two people together after so much has happened in there life. I cried many times reading this deep book! Jimmy is a fire fighter loves his job. Melissa is a single mom a teacher and just trying to stay strong after a loss. Two people meet who are totally different but need each other. This is a very emotional story but it makes you believe in love and fate ... How much can your world can change with love? 5/5 stars

RAGING INFERNO is a firefighter romance with a bit of angst and a slow burn. It stands alone and at 140 pages or so, it's more novella than full length but it is a complete story!

Jimmy Casale is a respected fireman, a divorced father with two teenaged girls. His first day on the job had him rescuing several people during 9/11. Melissa is a widow and mother to a seven year old son. Jimmy and Melissa will soon learn that there's only six degrees of separation between them but those six steps are huge. Can they overcome them to find a second chance?

Janine Infante Bosco surprised the hell outta me with this one! I've been a fan of Ms. Bosco's work for awhile and I'll admit that this story is a whole lot tamer than what I'm used to from her. But it doesn't matter because I still flippin' ADORED this book! The premise of this one just Tore. Me. Up. All of the Why's and What If's gave me goosebumps. Even if you don't believe in fate or kismet or whatever, this is one of those stories that makes you scratch your head and go hmmm...

I loved the relationship that Jimmy had with his youngest daughter. I loved that he was able to fess up to his mistakes and I loved that he was so willing to fight for Melissa. She was sweet and funny but my heart cracked for her and her sad circumstance so I'm glad that these two lonely individuals eventually found their way to each other.

Told from dual POVs with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this book follows Jimmy and Melissa as they fall in love and realize that fate has had a large role in their lives and bringing them together.
I loved Jimmy who is the epitome of a NYC Italian firefighter. He even has a Joey Tribiani "How you doin'?" moment. Melissa has not had the easiest time in the last few years. I loved her strength and ability to take the time she needed before moving forward from the tragedy of her past.

Though there were some minor proofreading and timeline errors to the story, there was more to love than to criticize. I love the thread of fate that ties these two characters together. I love that their story is rooted in a timeline that I can appreciate. I adore the message that life is too short to waste not loving those who are connected to you. I felt drawn in by the concept of this story and I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of characters created in a a relatively short book. There was a lot of emotion, steam, and romance in this story. This was my first book by this author in preparation of meeting her in Philadelphia at Indies Invade Philly. I was completely captured by her story telling and I cannot wait to meet her and read more of her work.

Carla's Five Star Review

Holy Cannoli! This book will blow you away! It is one of those stories that will stay with you long after you have finished it! I didn't plan to read it on the anniversary of 9/11, it just worked out that way, and let me tell you it was one heck of an emotional ride!

Oh Jimmy, Jimmy, effing Jimmy! I fell head over heels for that silver fox! From the moment he first sets eyes on Melissa, the sparks fly. And Melissa? Well, that poor woman has been through hell and survived. The only problem is the fact that she isn't really living, she is just going through the motions. As anyone who has ever lost someone knows, it is far too easy to get trapped in your grief. It has been four years since she lost the love of her life, and, in that time, she hasn't even looked at another man. Until Jimmy. He makes her feel again, and it isn't long before she realizes she is in love with him. The only problem is the secret that Jimmy is keeping from her. When it is finally revealed, it might just destroy their relationship.

What a beautiful story of love, fate, and second chances! A definite must read!

OMG! From page one, Raging Inferno just ripped through my memories and brought me back to that heart wrenching day that forever impacted how so many of us looked at the world through the eyes of innocence.
This is a wonderful story of survival and second chances, beautifully written and one that will stick with me for a long time.
Some say it is luck that has us crossings paths with others. In the book, It said that it was fate that brought Jimmy not only into Christopher’s life on that horrific day, but into Melissa’s life years later. I agree. Melissa has been dealt a tragic card, but fate is now finally ready to deal her the cards of hope, healing and love. She just has to take the leap and open her heart to to Jimmy and the possibility that she can experience love again.

I don't even know where to begin. Once I started this, there was no putting it down, this is a book you read in one sitting. It's 9/16/19 and the 18th anniversary just passed so emotions are high, even 18 years later, it seems like just yesterday. This book is a nod to those who always answer the call, no matter what, no matter what business they may leave unfinished or who they may leave behind, they don their gear and roll out. For those men and women, thank you doesn't seem to be enough.
The story of Jimmy and Melissa tugs at your heart, makes you smile, frustrates the bejeezus out of you and above all gives you hope. Hope that it's not too late, that there is a second chance out there, hope for a future filled with everything you thought may have passed you by, hope for forever.

This story WOW, just wow. It's like nothing you have read before by Janine its so much more, For as short as this is you really get into it and crave more by the end of the story. I loved the characters and the emotions every single one they had on every page. The end sucked I didn't want it to happen plain and simple. I was hooked, and that's saying something I wasn't able to place this story down for anything. You can't but help fall in love with the writing how real and alive it makes you feel. The emotions that run on the pages makes you cry and feel for all the characters over and over. 100% amazing story from start to finish. MUST READ!! The way the stories end leaves you wanting more and more.

Wonderfully written story of a life full of love and second chances. Nothing like any of her other books so it lets you see the broad expanse of story tell this author can bring. Jimmy is a hero you can stand behind in his character with trying to balance so much in his life. Melissa is a struggling young mother with heartache she trying to move beyond. Miss communications and taking a leap of faith brings you to love these superbly written characters to life. Can't go wrong, if you choose any stand alone book of this authors to start of with this one.

Janine has done it again! Another amazing book. This book tugged at the heart strings. Jimmy starts his career as a firefighter as September 11th hits. That day set his life on a path he had no idea it was on until years later. Melissa had her life altered my one misfortune. When a sexy firefighter enters her life will she have the courage to move on? Will she see that fate has brought them together to make the most out of life or will she not be able to see the love in front of her?
This was a great book of loss, love, and finding your way to the one you are meant to have.

Raging Inferno was a heartfelt novel that will evoke a range of emotions from you. Previously published as a novella in the Burn Me Anthology, this is the full length conclusion to Jimmy and Melissa story. Centered round 9/11, the novel will give you all the feels. The story is about the mysteries of fate, love, loss, and second chances. Jimmy and Melissa's well-written love story will grab your attention and hold it until the very end by which time you will be firm believer in fate. I loved this novel. It was a phenomenal read and I would highly recommend it.
