About this event

The aims of this session are:

  • To raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities to improve the health transition experience for young people and their families.
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of the role of healthcare professionals in facilitating effective transitions.

At this session, you will hear the findings and recommendations from a Scotland-wide study exploring the challenges faced by people with learning/intellectual disabilities during the transition period from childhood into adulthood.

The study was led by Professor Michael Brown, Queen’s University Belfast along with Dr Juliet MacArthur, NHS Lothian, Dr Maria Truesdale, Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory (University of Glasgow), Professor Zoe Chouliara, Abertay University, and Anna Higgins, Edinburgh Napier University.
