Welcome to the Health and Science Communication Significant Interest Group
Who are we?
The Health and Science Communication Special Interest Group is an offshoot of the British Association for Applied Linguistics that focuses on the study of language in relation to health and science communication.
We are an interdisciplinary group that is open to anyone interested in looking at the language of health and/or science. Our group brings together researchers who combine concepts and methods from applied linguistics with those from other disciplines (such as sociology, medicine, anthropology, psychology, cultural studies and more…)
Health and Science Communication SIG Objectives:
- To bring together applied linguists interested in the study of health and science communication, both in the UK and abroad.
- To develop work at the intersection of applied linguistics and health/science communication by providing opportunities for researchers to exchange information about their work and debate key theoretical and methodological issues.
- To support new researchers who are developing applied linguistics research in the field of health/science communication
We’re always looking for new members to help build our research community.
Become a member for free by going to http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/BAAL-HEALTHSCI and joining our mailing list. Membership to our group is free but if you would like updates and access to linguistics events, we encourage you to join the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL).
If you have any ideas, resources or events that you would like to bring to the group we would love to talk with you about them.
