Mill Race: Unexpected Encounters

Mill Race: Unexpected Encounters

Events

A creative walkabout through the historic Mill Race area of Lancaster.

Join artist Steve Fairclough on a special Light Up Lancaster walking experience - an evocative, sensory, light enhanced exploration of the city and its historic Mill Race area. Sights, sounds, surprises and great fun!

This event is part of the Mill Race Cultural Programme, funded by Historic England. It is inspired by the water mill race that powered the early industrialisation of Lancaster and still exists today, hidden beneath the buildings and streets of the city.

Join Steve as he takes you on a illuminating tour of this fascinating part of Lancaster, just to the north-east of the city centre around North Road, Lower Church Street and St Leonardgate, and shines a light on some of the hidden histories just waiting to be uncovered.

The walkabouts will take place from Thursday 2 November until Saturday 4 November.

Groups leave at: 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm each night and booking is essential. Maximum 20 people per group. Places are free but must be booked in advance here.

Please arrive promptly on the hour at Kanteena, Brewery Lane, LA1 1QL for your tour. There is little time to spare between tours, with each taking a minimum of 30 minutes. A charged phone and a comfy pair of shoes are always a good idea!

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
