KIEL, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities received the fifth bomb threat to Kiel Schools as well as city buildings, but no devices were found.

According to the Kiel Police Department, on May 31 around 9:30 a.m. an email was received regarding a bomb threat. The threat was directed to the following places:

  • Kiel Middle School
  • Kiel High School
  • Kiel School District Office
  • Zielanis Elementary School
  • Kiel City Hall
  • Kiel Public Library

This is the fifth threat that referred to the ongoing Title IX investigation. Employees at all locations were evacuated and the buildings were searched by authorities.

Governor Tony Evers, who visited Fox Valley Technical College with the Department of Health Services to thank health workers for their job during the COVID-19 pandemic, commented about the ongoing situation in Kiel.

“We have an investigation going on right now in Kiel. As a high school principal years and years ago, I dealt with this when threats on schools were common. The people of Kiel and throughout the state, they’ll work through this,” Evers told Local 5 News. “In the meantime, there’s no to believe that schools are not a safe place.  There’s no reason not to believe that at the end of the day, perpetrators who are causing schools to be closed will be brought to trial.”

No devices were found, and the buildings were cleared.

The Kiel Police Department is working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the FBI since the first threat was made.

“You’re losing so much learning time spent closing down schools or having kids off property so police can do their jobs it’s very frustrating for parents, kids, and school people at the end of the day you’ll find out who perpetrated this and it’s a significant crime,” added Evers.

No additional information was provided, and the investigation is ongoing.
