A York St John Internship is your chance to develop key skills, gain valuable work experience and start to build your professional network.

We offer 2 student internships at specific times of the year.

Summer Internship Programme 2024

We collaborate with employers around York and Yorkshire to offer our students project based internships. The Summer Internship Programme is great way to learn new skills while also gaining confidence, enhancing your CV, and getting paid to work in a commercial environment.

  • Internships could be virtual, blended or in-person (when applying make sure you know which one it is).
  • All internships are based in York and Yorkshire, across different industries.
  • Internships will start from mid-June to September and are advertised on Handshake.
  • Internships are flexible and can be completed part time over 4 to 12 weeks. Hours may vary but usually total to 120 hours for the duration of the internship.
  • In order to apply, you must be a current first or second year undergraduate student at York St John and continuing your studies for the 2024/45 academic year. Part-time postgraduate students in their first year are also eligible to apply.
  • Final year undergraduate students are not eligible for the Summer Internship Programme.
  • As well as learning new skills, you will be paid a competitive hourly rate.
  • If you are on a student visa, please check your visa information to make sure you are able to complete the internship.

YSJ On Campus Internship Programme 2024

Gain practical work experience on campus.

On campus internships are an incredible, flexible opportunity to gain practical work experience and learn new skills while you study.

Work could include helping on a project or assisting with a piece of work, and internships are available in a variety of departments on campus.

  • All opportunities are with departments at York St John.
  • Internship dates vary across the academic year but will usually be available between October and May.
  • Any current student at York St John University can apply, including postgraduate students.
  • Opportunities vary from business administration, events management to creating website content and more.
  • Internships are flexible and can be completed part-time between 6 to 10 hours per week. Hours may vary but usually total to 120 hours for the duration of the internship.
  • As well as learning new skills, you will be paid a competitive hourly rate.
  • If you are on a student visa, please check your visa information to make sure you are able to complete the internship.

How to apply

  • All On Campus Internships and Summer Internships are advertised on Handshake.
  • You will need to complete an application form and upload your CV to Handshake. Your form should be submitted with your CV to internships@yorksj.ac.uk.
  • Please read the role description before completing your application. Make sure you give examples of how you meet the criteria
  • You can apply for multiple internships but you will need to complete a separate application form for each one.
  • If you need help with your application, come along to our drop-in sessions in LaunchPad or book an appointment with one of our Careers Advisers.
