Project Officer (Professional Services Relocation) - AD2132SB

The primary purpose of the Professional Services Relocation (PSR) Project is to create a single, modern, effective and efficient centre for the majority of the University’s Professional Services (PS). In creating this single centre, it is anticipated that traditional discipline and department silos can be softened, with colleagues moving to a single team approach. This co-location will markedly improve the potential for strong communication and collaborative working, growing trust and confidence in colleagues enabling them to move towards initiatives such as single University-wide record systems and a golden copy principle for the use and dissemination of data and information as required.

This single location will be complemented by a Town Centre Hub to act as a focal point for interaction between staff and students with some Professional Services in St Andrews and an Estates Hub, to provide a base for estates trades in the town, closer to the main built environment.

You will be instrumental in ensuring the successful transition that will take place before and during the relocation of staff to the Eden Campus, shaping and leading institution-wide work streams relating to the project.

You will provide professional support to the project committees and working groups and will be a key contact for both external and internal stakeholders providing valid, reliable and accurate professional advice, guidance and support to professional services colleagues University wide.

You will lead, manage, coordinate and support an agreed portfolio of work as determined by the Project Sponsor and the Project Management Team and will work closely with members of the Professional Services Relocation (PSR) working group to facilitate the implementation of defined operational priorities relating to the relocation project.

Examples of the types of projects that will be involved include, establishment of agile working practices, development of a travel plan for the Eden Campus, determination of a records management policy, planning the practical aspects of the move to Eden Campus, as well as helping to deliver a range of training initiatives and delivery of communications related to the projects.

The post is offered for two years, in the first instance. You will be line-managed by the Executive Officer to the Principal’s Office but will also report to the Project Sponsor, the Space Planning Manager and the Head of Organisational and Staff Development on a regular basis. You will be based in the projects team office, an agile working environment, in Estates as well as hot-desking across various locations throughout the campus. This role would be suitable for a secondment opportunity. Experience of project management will be essential and knowledge of the HE sector would be advantageous.

From 2019 this post will be primarily based at Eden Campus, Guardbridge.
