Announcing the winners of the RateMyPlacement Awards 2023

Posted by Melchi on 16 Mar 2023

The winners of the rebranded RateMyPlacement Awards were announced on Thursday 16th March in a virtual awards ceremony, organised by RateMyPlacement.

Five hundred of the industry’s finest came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of employers and universities in undergraduate work experience.

Special Guest Speaker and Co-host of the Awards, Nicola Adams, OBE, inspired the audience with her Olympic journey and future plans. Her story of pioneering victory in the boxing ring serves as an inspiration to young women and general audiences alike. Nicola created history at the 2012 London Olympic Games when she became the first female to win an Olympic boxing medal after winning Gold for the Flyweight category. Not only is she one of the leading female boxers in the world, but Nicola’s work outside the ring is what makes her a truly remarkable figure within the sporting world.

Alongside Nicola was RMP Co-founder Ollie Sidwell as they announced three tables at the Awards:

  • Best 100 Student Employers (in the UK 2023-2024)

  • Best 45 Small to Medium-sized Schemes (in the UK 2023-2024)

  • Best 25 Universities for Work Experience 2023-2024 (BRAND NEW for this year)

The inaugural Best Universities for Work Experience table 2023-24, revealed the universities that excel in the resources and support they provide to students. With work experience becoming an increasingly important part of university life for students, universities play such a vital role in helping students to prepare and gain valuable work experience.

The Employer tables showcased the best employers to work for in 2023-24. Both Awards were voted for entirely by students who submitted a structured review of their placement, internship or insight experience on RateMyPlacement.co.uk. All 4,000 reviews submitted in 2022 were categorised into the relevant Best 100, or Best 45 tables based on the scale of student intake and the number of reviews submitted.

Here are the winners of each table:

University winners:

Best University for Work Experience 2023-2024: University of Reading

With 52 reviews written by students, they were the only university to score four out of five for both the resource and support questions given to students.

Employer winners:

Best Small to Medium-Sized Scheme 2023-2024: Toyota GB

Toyota GB received 16 brilliant reviews from students. It has been their ninth year in the table, and they climbed 21 places from last year to secure the top spot.

Best Student Employer 2023-2024: Savills

Savills had 140 out of their 160 student cohort review, and 87% of their intake reviewing was the highest proportion across all 100 employers. They also become the first-ever employer to be crowned the #1 employer for both the RateMyPlacement & RateMyApprenticeship Awards.

Congratulations to all the winners!
