NSCA conference 2024 September 11-13

Welcome to our yearly NSCA conference at Science Center Heureka,   
located in Vantaa, just outside Helsinki.  
Dive into the world of science engagement with a dynamic program spread over three days. Meet with experts, learn from each other, and enjoy unique cultural experiences. Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:

Day 1: Wednesday 11 Sept

  • Open House at Heureka

  • News from members
  • Welcome Reception & FAKE MAGIC Science Show
  • Light Buffet Dinner & Live Music: Wind down with a light meal and live music by the award-winning Heurocks band.
Day 2: Thursday 12 Sept
  • Keynotes on AI and Pseudoscience: Gain insights from leading thinkers on AI’s impact and the distinction between science and pseudo-humanities.
  • Thematic Discussions: Participate in small group discussions on critical topics like fundraising, inclusion, and strategy.
  • Cultural Experience at Hanaholmen: Travel to Hanaholmen for a cultural immersion and the famous Sauna Sessions.
Day 3: Friday 13 Sept
  • Keynote on the New Space Age: Learn how the latest space explorations will transform our daily lives.
  • Conference Wrap-up: Reflect on the insights gained and look forward to the next NSCA conference.
Post-Conference Tours on Friday afternoon:
Choose between a historical tour of Helsinki or a visit to the Museum of Technology, or the merging Finnish Architecture and Design Museums.

A few basic facts about the host:
Located in the Tikkurila area of Vantaa, Heureka opened its doors to the public in 1989. Heureka is one of Finland’s most popular destinations and the most visited museum. Heureka engages the public with science and technology. Visitors can experience the joy of discovery through spectacular exhibitions, planetarium films, educational programs and events.

Heureka is famous for its vibrant interactive exhibition production. In recent years the following exhibitions have opened and will all be there for the the NSCA conference:

  • The Power of Play (2023) about the relevance of play in our lives
  • Our Journey in Space (2024) about human activity in our solar system
