How will this work affect me?

Between Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April 2024 London Euston station will be closed. Apart from London Overground, no train services will call at Euston, with all intercity services starting and ending at Milton Keynes Central.

There will also be changes to services and rail replacement buses across the North West while vital maintenance and improvement work takes place.

Anyone planning to use the West Coast Mainline over Easter are advised to travel either side of the bank holiday or plan ahead by visiting National Rail.

What work is taking place?

The work includes:

  • Renewing the track, switches and crossings between Euston and Milton Keynes in order to provide safer and more reliable journeys
  • Commissioning the track connection to a new freight terminal in Northampton
  • Drainage and overhead wire improvements between Wigan and Northwich
  • Station and platform improvements at Lancaster
