Why I chose Morriston sixth form

What do our students have to say?

Emily

Emily wants to continue her studies at University to study mental health nursing.

Sophie Year 13

My name is Sophie and I am currently studying Psychology, Photography and Welsh bacc in sixth form. Sixth form is a great learning opportunity especially as we are already familiar with all of the teachers (and them with us) in the school, this also means that they know all of your abilities and where you could sometimes look for improvement so they can focus on helping you wherever needs be. We get a lot of help and support in sixth form and it is a very friendly and social space, we have great common room and everyone gets along very well with each other.  There are also great chances during school council to get involved with things such as the OAP party and fundraising events like cake sales and non school uniform days. Another good thing about sixth form is the support you get when the time comes to apply for university. It can be a very stressful process doing a personal statement and choosing the right course, but there is always help given to you when you need and there is brilliant support from teachers always.

Holly

Holly wants to continue her studies at University to study aerospace engineering

Jisha Year 13

I’m Jisha and I’m in Year 13. I study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Welsh baccalaureate. I recommend coming back to Morriston 6th form for many reasons, particularly because everyone is like a close knit family here and the support we get from teachers especially our head of sixth form is amazing, he always goes above and beyond for each individual student making sure we are all happy in what were doing. Having this level of support really allows us all to thrive here in sixth form and takes undue stress off of us. We are fully supported in our application process to university to ensure we’re doing the right thing for us. I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in several programmes such as SEREN and Step up Cardiff which helped me gain insight of life in university, allowing me to choose the university and course which is right for me.

Kyle Year 13

Kyle is looking to enter full time employment after completing his studies at sixth form

Abi

My name is Abi and I’m currently studying Art, History, Applied science and Welsh bacc in sixth form. Sixth form is good because you already know all of the teachers and they know you and what your strengths and capabilities are meaning they can help you with your studies more. The teachers give you so much guidance and support in transitioning to sixth form as well as helping you apply to university and getting people to come in and talk to you about your future and careers during pse. Sixth form also gives you a variety of opportunities to do things for the community like taking part in the OAP Christmas party, delivering chocolates to the children in the hospital at Christmas and holding fundraisers to raise money for charities

Leo

Leo want to go onto University to study English Literature with creative writing

Katelyn

Hi I’m Katelyn, and I am a student in Morrison Comp Sixth form and I am studying, business, creative media, welsh bac and Sports.

I chose these subjects because these are the subjects that I enjoy the most and will know I will do my best in. The teachers in these subjects are helpful and are always ready to help when needed. They help you get the best mark possible.

I chose to come to sixth form because it is a small environment, and the school tends to provide more structure and more support than colleges which is what I needed as a student. To be told to do things, and to be helped when ever needed. Morrison comprehensive schools sixth form has amazing facilities for the sixth form, with their own cafeteria, common room, with a Tv and sofas, and even a study room to study in on free periods. This is a very good sixth form and it is one of the best decision I have made and I recommend it to anyone

Leah

Hello, my name is Leah, and I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at Sixth Form. I recommended coming back to Sixth Form because the transition from GCSE to A level can be stressful, but with the help from the teachers that you already know, this is made a lot easier. Also, if you are thinking about going to University, then Mr. Evans is the man to see. He will support you all the way through, from finding the right course for you, to sending off your UCAS application. Sixth Form also gives you the opportunity to get involved with the community as we spend a lot of the autumn and winter term preparing for the OAP party and Parcels for pensioners. It also gives you the chance to arrange all the charity events we do as a school and making sure we make the most of them. Sixth form gives you a close knit family feel and everyone is really close. The common room has been recently done out with the study room next in line. Sixth form as a whole is somewhere you feel safe and never alone with always somebody to talk too.
