Nutrition is vital for the development of a children. If youngsters do not receive a good diet in their formative years, their physical and mental development can be affected.

The Missionary Community of St Paul the Apostle in the remote desert region of Turkana, northwest Kenya feeds 2,000 children six days a week in 18 nurseries. Now that Covid has arrived in Kenya - with increased unemployment and food shortages the need to provide children with a good diet is all the more urgent.

New Ways - a London-based charity linked with several parishes in the UK, supports the nurseries and is selling a colourful Christmas calendar this year, to raise funds for the project.

CEO Angela Docherty said: "We can feed and educate a child in the nutritional nurseries for an average of just £60 -£80 per annum. Can you please help - every penny counts. Gift Aid adds even more to ensure your donation changes lives. Help us fulfil our commitment to ensure that all our nurseries stay open to provide food during the COVID 19 pandemic as well as 2021. We want to ensure that all the children receive the nourishment they need and deserve.'

Each calendar sold will feed a child for a month.

They'll make great stocking-fillers, so go on, give the gift of a year to a friend or loved-one, and a month of food to a child!
