Open ended, 37 hours per week Institute of Railway ResearchThe Institute of Railway Research (IRR) is looking for a senior research leader with sound background and expertise in pantograph-catenary interaction dynamics. The researcher should be able to evidence a successful record of attracting external funding, leading projects and a high-quality record of peer-reviewed research publications in this area of railway engineering. The candidate should demonstrate strong programming skills in pantograph-catenary dynamics, understanding of co-simulation methods and hardware-in-the-loop methodologies, and strong knowledge of relevant standards and developments underpinning this area in order to solve the engineering challenges of today’s railway industry and conduct research to shape the future development of rail transport.Principal Research Fellow in Pantograph-Catenary Interaction: Our research programme requires high calibre researchers with a wide range of skills but we are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Pantograph-Catenary Interaction Dynamics.To take advantage of this opportunity you will need to have a strong academic track record, together with excellent technical skills and an enthusiasm for new challenges.
