2023 Statutory Consultations

Devon County Council carried out a statutory consultation across the following areas of Exeter to decide whether to implement residents parking restrictions to include these roads.

The areas that were consulted are:

  • Zone T4 – Wardrew Road Area (ENV5898)
  • Zone T5 – Ferndale Road Area (ENV5899)
    • Including Barton Road, Edwin Road and Queens Road

These proposals were to implement the roads and all associated properties into two new zonal residents parking schemes.

Consultations

This consultation ran from Thursday 31 August until Tuesday 26 September 2023 so is now closed.

Residents within each area received information in the post with details of the consultation and how to respond.

What happens next

Comments from this consultation were summarised and reported to the Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee on 23 January 2024 where it was resolved

  1. the results of the consultation be noted;
  2. the proposals for residents’ parking in the St Thomas area are not progressed and would not be reconsidered for at least three years;
  3. the making and sealing of a traffic order to implement specific restrictions in Maple Road and Cowick Street be approved; and
  4. the progression of a residents’ parking scheme for the Woodwater Lane area be approved as soon as resources allow.

Work on the Woodwater Lane area is expected to begin in the 2024/25 financial year. The priority for the remaining schemes was agreed by the Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee on 29 April 2022. The schemes below will be delivered in future years in the order listed. Subject to the resources and funding being available.
