Knock on Wood is the second book in The Ash Brothers series by Jenika Snow. This is a very short, insta love, insta lust story that will leave you feeling plenty of warm and fuzzies.

Johnny Ash and Flora Beaumont love each other. The problem being that neither one of them has told the other. Johnny is a lumberjack, working with his brothers in their family owned business.

sexy lumberjack

Johnny and Flora have barely spoken over the years. Johnny is seven years older than Flora and it was on her eighteenth birthday he first noticed her as a woman. He knew right away that she was the only woman for him. But she had plans to go away to college and he didn’t want to get in the way of that. So he kept his feelings to himself.

Flora is completely tongue tied whenever Johnny is around. So she mostly prefers to worship him from a distance. They have hardly ever even spoken. But she loves him. Through all the years of college, she saves herself for Johnny, not even knowing if he could have found someone else.

Johnny has never felt any sort of attraction to any other woman than Flora. So he saved himself for her. If she found another man that makes her happy then he will just have to face a lifetime alone because no other woman will ever do.

sexy

What will it take to finally get these two to have a real conversation, to finally tell each other how they feel? Or, will they wait too long? This is a very quick read but a perfect little feel good story that is sure to make you smile. I love these. I love knowing that I won’t have to wait long for my happily ever after. I can guarantee you that this will heat things up as well. Jenika Snow most definitely has a talent for writing steam. This was such a fun little book and I definitely want to read more from this series!

➳Gotta love when we have a possessive alpha male that has been waiting his whole entire life to be with his one true mate but obstacles are in the way of him getting much further...

➳From the previous novel in THE ASH BROTHERS series, we got a better understanding of what we would be able to find and read in this new upcoming novel. "Big Johnny" and Flora, have been separated by the obstacles that life had put them through. Even though college, the age difference, the hardships of being together becomes something they both have to endure, Flora and Johnny finally come to a realization that their sizzling romance is one that cannot be diminished or ignored.

➳This is a very quick review due to the fact that this novel is smutty, sizzling with romance left and right, up and down, with the whole package of a possessive alpha male who only wants to pound on his one and true mate that will be his for the rest of life. Insta-love is a triggering point for some, so if you are not into them then I highly recommend passing this one away because this puppy is filled with instant attraction that makes your whole body shake with desire and passion for Flora and Johnny. Overall this was such a cute romance that I absolutely devoured and enjoyed more than what I thought I would have...

It's Live!

Those Ash boys are some sexy lumberjacks! Another sexy and sweet story from Jenika Snow. Imagine if you will, a hero who can keep it in his pants. Crazy, right?

HERO~ Johnny was a great hero. He was a loner. He was broody and not approachable. He never gave women the time of day, and some speculated that he maybe wasn't into women. He was into one woman, and that was Flora. He worried he would hold her back, he worried he was too old (in the prologue he was 25 and she was 18) so he held it in and didnt tell her. Letting her head off to college not knowing he was in love with her

HEROINE~ Flora loved Johnny. She said she loved him practically her whole life. She wanted to tell him but was afraid of rejection. Once they found their way to each other, she didnt play games

SEXUAL HISTORY~ Both were virgins

OM/OW DRAMA ~ None

STEAM Plenty of steam

VIOLENCE no violence

SECONDARY CHARACTERS No other characters played a part in this story

SAFETY Safe with exception- while they both were virgins, Flora had made out and had some heavy petting with someone else. It's not said who, but she has loved Johnny for as long as she can remember, so it had to be while she was in love with him. I wish she had not done that, personally.

ENDING~ Just OK epilogue that was only a year out.

Johnny and Flora have loved each other for years and yet neither have expressed their feelings to the other. Johnny wanted Flora to go away to college and fulfill her dreams so he held back. Now that she’s returned home he’s so hungry for her he’s afraid he’s going to screw up his one chance. Flora is a bit shy when it comes to Johnny. She doesn’t want to ruin anything between them and so she’s remained silent regarding her emotions. After a serendipitous meeting and near miss, they finally have their moment.

This is a quick steamy read with absolutely no angst or drama. It’s a simple story of two people waiting for the opportunity to relay the depth of their feelings. There’s not a lot of plot here but it is sugary sweet and the perfect snack for in between longer reads. This is all insta-everything and a very enjoyable little story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Carina Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Straight to the heat….

This is another super-quick, uber-hot instalment in the The Ash Brothers series by an author who knows how to write heat. Big Johnny is just that – big in stature (and everything else) as he quietly pines for the one that got away. But Flora is back and there is no time wasted in getting down to business…

“He was like his own mountain, big and strong, powerful and beautiful.”

While Johnny may be big, there is nothing overbearing about his treatment of Flora. There is love on both sides but it’s amazing how people can keep skirting around the truth. For years! I think they both realize it is time to do something about it. And do they ever!

If you love sweet, sexy with characters that are simply irresistible than you have found the right story! It’s a quick one – I wish it was longer – but these bites are all about quick satisfaction, and they are definitely that! ~Diane, 4 stars

What a great second story to this series. The Ash brothers are becoming such wonderful reads. Yes, they are novella reads but you really can't tell. The story has everything you could want. Emotions, wonderful characters, and great sex! Jenika is becoming one of my go-to authors. I can't wait for the next one. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

I have wanted to read Johnny and Flora’s story from the moment I knew they were interested in each other when I read Hard Wood! And as soon as Knock on Wood hit my kindle, I started in. I didn’t have to wait a long time before I got it, but even that little wait was worth it — I just loved Knock on Wood.

Johnny and Flora are just the sweetest couple ever. They’re both sweet and kind and down to earth. Flora is just lovely and has a good heart. Johnny’s such a nice guy, but he certainly has his possessive alphaness down. Johnny and Flora are a great couple and I loved them.

Knock on Woodis a fantastic little story. It’s full of sweetness, heart melting moments and a couple of adorkably awkward times, but I loved that. It more than met all my expectations and there’s not a single thing I would want to change about it. I love these Ash brothers and I can’t wait to read the last brother’s story!

Knock on Wood is the second book in The Ash Brothers series, but it can be read as a standalone. It’s told from Johnny and Flora’s POV and they do get their happily-ever-after.

Knock on Wood is insta-love that spans back several years. Both Johnny and Flora have loved each other since she was eighteen but it's always been from afar. Neither one has let their true emotions out and it's been difficult on them. They both want each other but they were too scared to say it.

Once Flora gets back from college, Johnny wanted to make a move but he always wanted to give her time to settle back home. When the possibility of a threat happens, Johnny slowly makes his move. Watching these two finally get out there feelings instills a slow burn that is torture. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to scream at them and tell them to get it together and tell the other that they love them. I will admit that this is the reason why my rating isn't a five star. I took me a long time to connect to them but I honestly think it was a "me" issue.

Now that their feelings are out, there's no stopping these two. We get a sense of relief when they FINALLY admit their love to each other.

If you are looking for insta-love with a slow burn (sounds confusing, I know) and a desirable protectiveness from smooth talking alpha, then you want to read Knock on Wood

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the trilogy of Ash Brothers. If you have read Hard Wood, you will know a little about the pairing in this book - but you could enjoy it as a standalone too.

The story starts when Flora is just 18 and about to go away to college. We learn that both she and Johnny have eyes only for each other ... but it takes a while for them to take the chance. Very endearingly, they have both waited for their first to be with each other.

Fast forward to now - which is a very wise plot device in a short story! - and we get to see them finally take the plunge (pun intended) and it is very sweet, hot and meant to be. I like that we get a strong hint at how the next book is going to progress too.

This was a quick read novella type story about two people who pine away for one another yet both too scared to make a move.

The story straight forward steamy with characters that had some smoking hot chemistry. We loved Big Johnny all alpha, yet we see a softer side of him when it comes to him loving Flora as he isn't shy about expressing his feelings, he can be even a bit mushy even. Possessive and protective was just this man's nature!

I loved the fact that both the main characters were virgins, something you don't see often. Both Flora and Johnny knew in the heart of hearts that they were it for one another, it was just all about timing.

Cute story that made you smile, which we toughly enjoyed.

This was the second book in the series with the Ash brothers. It's Johnny's turn and his woman is Flora. A short quick read with the characteristics of a Jenika Snow book. Both the hero and heroine are virgins so if you don't like this type of story, don't buy it. Johnny has known since Flora was 18 that she was the one for him but he wanted her to live a little bit so he waited. When she comes back to town, it's his chance but he's scared that she won't feel the same way about him. Will they admit to each other how they feel or will they just remain friends? Another great story.

I am a major fan of Jenika Snow and her real man series so anything she writes I grab up as soon as possible.

This is the second book in the Ash brothers series and this time we get Big Johnny’s story.

Flora has been in love with Johnny forever and is to scared to tell him she doesn't think he even knows who she is much less have the same feelings for her she has for him so she leaves for college .

This is what happens when she comes back home from college and these two finally see each other alone since then.

Knock on Wood by Jenika Snow
The Ash Brothers #2

Short quick romance between two people that have wanted to be together for years but were too shy to communicate their interest. I had a bit of trouble believing that the two were so enamored with one another that no other person caught their eye for five years – or longer – but the story based this sweet but also steamy story on that and the idea that the two had kept themselves pure until their time together happened…in this novella. One more brother to go – the hook for that story with who might end up with is implied in this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Carina Press for the ARC – this is my honest review.

This story is short, fast paced and sweet. I read this book within half an hour and wasn’t once bored. Knock on wood is book two in the Ash brother’s series. This story is Johnny and Flora’s story. I liked that both Johnny and Flora had feelings for one another that each other didn’t know about. I loved that both Flora and Johnny were virgins and that they had waited for one another. The chemistry between them is clear to see, I just wish the story were a little longer.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a sweet read. I cannot wait for Liam’s story.

Hot lumberjack lusting after a girl for five years. Watching and observing and wanting. The girl lusting after him but both are too afraid to make a move.
This is fast and short read with predicted plot.
The characters were a bit repetitive in their thoughts and decision. I didn't see him as alpha male even though he had potential at first. I guess it's hard to develop good characters in such a short time.
The sex was ok and the ending was predictable HEA but sweet.

I love this series! I was hooked with the first one and couldn't wait to read the second one after seeing Johnny and Flora's chemistry. This chemistry continued to be explosive with when we got their story, it was a sweet read with no drama. It made my heart happy seeing these two get their forever. It's swoony, sensual and a fun read. I devoured it in one sitting. It's well written, the characters are relatable in addition to both the plot and dialogue being enjoyable. I cannot wait to read the last book in this series.

Super short and sweet - there was more inner monologue for both the main characters than actual communication which made it slightly more angsty than one might expect from a book of this length. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Johnny has always been a big guy. He's known as Big Johnny. He's rugged and handsome and works with his hands. Despite women always throwing themselves at him, he has always carried a torch for Flora.

Flora is a few years younger than Johnny, but knew right away that she wanted to be his. Even though she had aspirations of going to college, she didn't date much and knew she wanted to come back and see if her and Johnny could have a relationship.

These two together have some great chemistry. It was also a sweet touch, despite not being incredibly realistic, that both were virgins when they finally get together. It gives the story a sentiment that is sweet and loving all wrapped together.

I hope more brothers are coming!

I am not sure if I could not totally get into this or if the story itself was boring. It has been awhile since I have read a shorter story like this.

Hero and heroine lust each other but are afraid to show their feelings. Finally after some five years they get courage and everything just happens quickly. It was too rushed.

Knock on Wood is a short but sweet romance novel. Johnny and Flora pine after each but too afraid to share their feelings.
Johnny thinks he's too old and Flora thinks she's too young. After a brief separation these two decided to make a go of it.
While I enjoyed it I think it needed more of a storyline.

Knock on Wood in the second novella/short story in the Ash Brothers series for Carina Press' Dirty Bits imprint, which is designed to offer short, hot reads with HEA endings in as little time as possible, and it's the second book in the series I've read. Sadly, I didn't think it had nearly the depth or emotional impact of the first novel in this series, and I can only give it a 2-star rating.

This entry features Big Johnny Ash, at 6'7", the tallest of the Ash Brothers. He's a big, hot, relatively quiet, and aloof lumberjack, and when we first meet him in 2013, he's 25 years old, and shy, tongue-tied, virginal heroine, Flora has had her eye on him for some time. Since this story is told with alternating narration, we know almost immediately that 18-year old Flora considers herself a grown woman already and that she's in love with him, although these two characters have barely spoken two sentences to one another, and no one in their small town is known to have dated him.

Johnny is also attracted to Flora, possessive and protective of her but he's too tongue-tied to actually talk to her, and he considers the 7 year difference in their ages a problem--he's just too old to be interested in an 18-year-old girl. He also knows that she'll soon be leaving for college, and he doesn't want to interfere with that.

Fast forward 5 years and Flora has been back in town for almost a year, finishing up her internship as an accountant. While in college she didn't find any other man who interested her and is still a virgin and still in love with Johnny. What she doesn't know is that now 30-year-old Johnny is also still a virgin, having decided to save his virginity for Flora. I'm sorry, but it was nearly impossible for this reader to accept the fact that a 30-year-old man in this day and age was saving himself for marriage. I could expect such a thing from someone holding deep religious conviction and possibly heading into the priesthood, but a big, gorgeous lumberjack? Not a chance.

One evening, leaving her office rather late, Flora heads to the diner to order some dinner, and while there bumps into Johnny, also picking up his dinner, and the two have a rather short conversation until Johnny's order is ready and he leaves. When Flora leaves the diner shortly thereafter, she's got her mind on Johnny and is nearly hit by a speeding car, but Johnny races to her rescue, grabs her and pulls her out of harm's way. Seeing how shaken she is, he offers to bring her home with him, and we next see the two of them on his sofa, watching a movie, and the dual internal dialogues was total overkill.

While I wasn't thrilled with this story so far, I lost count of the number of times and the assortment of similes Johnny used to describe the state and hardness of his erection. The same was true of Flora and the wetness of her panties. I understand that the author was trying to raise the heat level leading to the big event but it truly became ridiculous. When out of the blue, Johnny suddenly proclaims his love for Flora, and Flora admits that she loves him, it's all over but the bedroom scene, which also wasn't particularly hot or steamy, and seemed rather unlikely considering the often-mentioned difference in their sizes, especially the often-mentioned size of Johnny's equipment and dainty, little Flora's virginity.

Yes, there's a short epilogue and an HEA ending to this hard to believe romance (since it really didn't contain any actual romancing), but I was so glad that Ms. Snow kept it short because in a story meant to be read from start to finish in just 1 to 2 hours, the incredibly repetitive inner dialogues and physical descriptions made this story seem almost endless.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
